The most central form of deferred processing is the transfer of data from gift batches into the main database tables. This process is known as Gift Processing. Since deferred processing locks several different parts of the database at different stages of the process, running this process should be reserved for a time like the early morning or late evening. Doing sure ensures that even in the event of a very large processing run, all work is finished before the first staff member begins work in the morning.
Gift processing can be run using either of the following methods, both of which are performed outside of Advance:
To run gift processing:
Use the Korn Shell to run the UNIX script, run_gp.ksh.
or
Log into your database using a utility such as SQL Plus and execute the stored procedure zz_gp.
